Naturally soft, rustic yarn grown and spun in small batches.

Hinterland Farm is an alpaca and llama sanctuary located on S,DÁYES, traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ people (Pender Island, BC). Founded and run by Hanahlie Beise, Hinterland produces small-batch, rustic yarns that incorporate home-grown fibre with Rambouillet, alpaca, and sheep fibre from other farms in the region.

Dusk (fingering weight) Range (worsted weight) and Watershed (chunky weight) each have their own unique characteristics, though all utilize the natural shades of alpaca fibre to create six soft and harmonious colourways.

Patterns

From single-skein projects to ambitious endeavours, here are shawls, sweaters, scarves, and other cozy patterns designed with Hinterland yarn.

Though the original intention was to begin with sheep, the farm serendipitously started with six alpacas from a retirement sale. Since then, the herd has expanded through rescue animals that are either in crisis or have been surrendered to the SPCA.
